Flea Market @ Lucky Plaza

Flea markets are the best way to get rid of your out-of-fashion clothes. You get to free up some space in your wardrobe and get back some money from the unwanted clothes!

Flea markets in Singapore have come a long way. From its early days at Sungei Road to weekend flea markets at Clarke Quay and Tanglin Mall, flea markets are now popping up all over Singapore. The main flea organisers are For Flea Sake and What The Flea. Not to forget, the Mega Flea Market held at Suntec City Mall. There are also smaller scale flea markets organised regularly at various neighbourhoods by the town councils.

When I had simply too much clothes cluttered in my wardrobe, I decided to round up 2 of my friends to organise a flea market. After much research, we opened a stall at the monthly flea market in Tampines for our first flea early this year. The location was just opposite Tampines Mall, at the walkway along the MRT track. The cost was much cheaper than the flea markets in town areas, I think it was around $50 for two days! It was a fantastic experience being your own boss and the 3 of us managed to breakeven and got rid about 70% of our stuff within the 2 days.

My other friend opened a stall at the flea market at Lucky Plaza today. The flea market is a regular event organised by For Flea Sake. It was my first time visiting the flea market at Lucky Plaza and boy was I overwhelmed by the massive crowds there! As most people are aware, Lucky Plaza is a shopping centre located in Orchard and is very popular among the Filipino domestic workers. All the store owners were enjoying bustling sales there and most clothes were going for just $1 (tops) -$5 (dresses) each piece! I wish I had taken more pictures but I was too busy making my way through. This is a venue that I would seriously consider when I have accumulated sufficient unwanted clothes and want to open another flea market store in future :)
